weight loss slowed

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 2-weeks ago today. I started tracking my weight daily when I got home and was losing 3-5 pounds daily. Now I'm only losing 1 pound a day. I'm scheduled to start stage 4 today but I'm worried I'll stop losing and maybe start gaining. Anyone have suggestions?

This happened to me too. I was sleeved on the 7th. The first 6 days, I was losing 3-4 pounds everyday. Then all of a sudden it just stopped. I am dropping very very slightly again but only about .5 lbs each day now. It's bizarre because I am really not getting that many calories in and am moving around quite a bit. I feel like I have seen so many others post about losing 35 pounds or more in the first month post surgery. Hoping to hear from others as well about this.

Read the link in my sig about stalls. You are getting to the point where you are likely to hit the 3 week stall. That's okay and perfectly normal. Do not try to reduce calories or delay moving on to the next phase because you are afraid of gaining weight. At this point in your journey your calories are so severely reduced if you do not start eating food eventually your body could go into starvation mode and that will really hinder your weight loss efforts.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
