Fee I just noticed you were banded on 15th Nov & had your 1st fill on 2nd Dec, barely two weeks later. Did you ask for this, or did Mr Nottle just do it.

I am back on 18th Jan for my 1st visit (5 weeks after surgery) and would like to get a fill but the receptionist at his surgery thought it was unlikely.

Seeming he is so hard to get into and so busy, I dont want to wait another month or so. What is the deal with these fills, are they self monitored? Do you say when you want one?

Hi....no i didnt ask for it he just said he would do it as it was christmas and he said he was going away.

Everytime i have gone for my check ups i get a fill even if its only a tiniest bit.

I have had to never ask for a fill.....i bet you he will give you the fill when you see him on the 18th Jan:)

Goodluck

hi... Just went and saw my neurologist as i have a pass history of Multiple Sclerosis diagnosed in 1997 but no problems since. I asked him to write a letter to Dr Nottle r/e having Lap Banding. He didnt hesitate as he's seen my weight keep on an incline. Now.... i just have to wait for 14/2/07 when i see Dr Nottle for the first time. I wish i could see him NOW...

Hey Fee are you kidding that they do banding as a day surgery? Surely not! I think everybody should be in at least overnight and possibly one to two days for observation and monitoring etc.:girl_hug:

Bronwyn, good news re your neuro. Unfortunately MS is something that we will both have for life. Its great that you haven't had any more attacks since 1997 though. Susannah

susannah... I think the betaferon has really slowed down the MS for me. Have had lots of symptoms but no real attacks. Fingers crossed as i want to consentrate solely on weight loss and looking forward to having the lap band.

I was done at 8pm and was discharged at 10am the following day, so if I was done first thing in the morning, I could have left that night.

And to be quite honest, I much preferred being at home than being in the hospital bed!

I wouldnt opt for day procedure. Am i correct that day procedure is not performed at a hospital but at a small endoscopy clinic or similar?

I know everyone is different but when i had a past laproscopic procedure ( gallbladder) I stayed for 3 days in hospital due to the shoulder tip pain etc caused by the gas.

Hopefully that was a one off and this time i'll just stay overnight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
