Hi, I'm from Michigan. I had my surgery on December 19, too. How is everyone doing?

Doing great! Still learning how to stay hydrated and get all of my Proteins in. Thanks to Unjury and crystal light, I can make it some days without too much effort...drinking all day with breaks in between for mushy Protein like my yummy Dannon Greek Yogurt. The others are not tasty! Happy New Year! This time next year we'll be living in healthier bodies!

So, I'm Dec 18th but figured I'd drop in. I was scheduled for noon on the 18th and they kept pushing my surgery back until 6pm. Since I felt like a lifetime, it might as well been the 19th. :) As of today I have lost 15 lbs from surgery date. From what I can tell, I'm a slow loser, but honestly it's not stressing me out. I am getting 48- 64 oz of Water a day and usually about 60-70 g of Protein, so I think I'm doing well. My new addiction is forming though- I LIVE on this forum and a few others. It gets me through my funks.

I had mine on the 19 & I thought I was going to die on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with all the food around me. How is your post op coming?

Good to hear from people with the same surgery date! My post op is progressing....I had an infection in one of my incisions, so that's been a bit of a drag, though it's healing. I consider it a minor complication, though I think it did make me more fatigued. Things are moving along better now :)

I have one more day, then I can add eggs and cottage chesse to my diet. I've been on full liquids since December 5....it's getting a little old, lol!

Everyone else healing and moving?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
