elisa 33 Posted December 17, 2012 Even since I had the surgery, sleeved 8/7/12, I am always cold. It is so unlike me to be cold. I was the one who was always hot.. Felt like I was having hot flashes in the dead of winter. Would sometimes sweat from doing nothing. I'm not complaining just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. It is easier to throw a sweater on...
SeriouslyChange 319 Posted December 17, 2012 It's because you're loosing all that insulation lol. It's a good thing no matter how much it sucks at the moment
gmanbat 5,889 Posted December 17, 2012 I went almost coatless in Ohio. Lost 110 pounds and moved to Florida. Now I get cold, have to put on an extra blanky. I miss my fat overcoat like a paper cut with lemon juice. Cold I can take. 4 MrsGina, SkinnyMinnie2Be, LadyK and 1 other reacted to this

TD41 33 Posted December 17, 2012 just curious is it because you are not getting enough Iron .... Maybe u need to talk to doctor you could be anemic and may have to start Iron supplement Hope it gets better:)
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted December 17, 2012 Don't worry, I can tell you , yes, it's because fat is an insulator. But if you are a naturally warm person, over time you will adjust to having less insulation. It'll never be like before, but you won't feel like you are freezing all the time either. Besides, this is a great excuse to buy a nice new coat, jacket, parka, hoodie, & a few hats too. 4 LadyK, Fiddleman, gmanbat and 1 other reacted to this
Oliver's Mom 258 Posted December 17, 2012 Ha ha ha my husband and I were just talking about this last night-I was always the one turning the heat down, he would add the extra blanket. Now our roles are reversed.......I'm just down 30 lbs. Not complaining tho!

Newfoundlove 95 Posted December 18, 2012 I got cold for months after the surgery. Sometimes I am still cold but it has pretty much regulated itself out. My doctor told me, however, that many people get cold because the Grelin that was stored in the pouch part of your stomach also regulates your temperature. I believe I've seen posts about that here on the forum before. You might want to do a search and see what others have written about this. 1 MrsGina reacted to this

lizy0916 18 Posted December 18, 2012 When you start loosing weight yor Vitamins & immune system gets low that's why you need to get lab test every so often & this is the reason we get cold. I was very low on Vitamin D since I started taking it I feel much better & don't get sick that much as before.
girlchild 5 Posted December 18, 2012 2.5 weeks post-op, down 28 lbs and driving my family crazy with space heaters, double layers, the works! I used to be the sort that MIGHT wear a hoodie out in winter. Very high tolerance for cold and none for heat. Totally different already. Looking forward to hating the dog days of summer a bit less.
