Hello,

I hope your doing well. Sorry I have been so slow to reply. I had a real hard time changing IV to oral pills and being in the hospital for the holiday was real hard.

I have a leak. The dr said a good one!! Care was very prompt. The day I went to the dr I had a ct and when straight down to endoscope for my first stent. I had swallow study and i am allergic to the contrast they use. I was in the hospital for 9 days on antibiotics. As it turns out my stent slipped, so I went back to endoscope and now have two stents in place.

Yesterday I met with an infectious disease dr, because he has access to more antibiotics than my dr. I am VERY allergic to antibiotics, and my dr wasn't sure which treatment plan she should use.

I was on some antibiotics theough IV at the hospital, but my kidney function was greatly affected and my blood pressure went of out control.

I am on pain meds and I hope everything I am writing is coherent.

I was able to come home yesterday. I feel pretty okay considering what's been going with my body.

I will have these two stents for 6 weeks and then have another endoscope to either remove both stents or replace them. I have a lot of antibiotics to take here at home and other medicine. I don't like to take medicine, so this is hard for me.

I generally feel exhausted and tired. But keeping my spirits up! :) one day at a time.

Thank you kindly for all the support.

Best,

Sannah

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
