What do you mean by excessive? Did I get bald spots? No. It did get quite thin and I was glad to have wavy hair to help it look fuller. I honestly didn't notice how bad it was until recently. Now that the regrowth is 3 inches long, you can see how much thicker the hair close to my scalp is compared with the rest. It now looks like I lost at least 30% of my hair. I have pictures. You wouldn't know by looking at them.

I am two months post sleeve and I have lost a lot of hair, maybe like Heather 30%. You can read up on this, it's very common. Don't freak out, it will grow back.

I'm almost four months post op. I have thin hair and was worried about Hair loss. I've been using Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner since I had the surgery and have had no hair loss. Getting in Protein helps too!

Yes, I figure I've probably lost about half my hair and for whatever reason more seems to have come out of the top than the back, or so says the gal who cuts my hair. It started around 4-4.5 months out from surgery and lasted pretty heavy for six months. Now I loose what I consider to be normal amounts when I wash/dry my hair 11 months out from surgery. I have lots of regrowth that's up to an inch long. I've cut it pretty short and plan to let it grow back out as the hair grows in thicker. At least my thinner face looks decent with the short haircut! =)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
