Has anyone else not felt restriction until 6 months out? I still think I can eat more than the average sleeved person but it has not been until recently that I feel restriction.

Thinner Peace

You didn't feel much restriction post WLS of 6/13/12, correct??? you lost 67 lbs in that time period though - good for you thats wonderful

now 12/16/12 you DO feel a restriction?? sounds that way?

i/many people don't feel a restriction til they get to their solid stage - you didn't feel that restriction for a longer time period - i don't think thats common

but...you still lost those nasty 67 lbs, and now you do feel the necessary good restriction :)

I never understand how people can say they can eat more than what they used to, more than the average sleever??? :(

Whatever portion your NUT tells you to eat whether it be 1/3 cup, 2/3 cup or 1 cup - thats all you should be putting on your plate - please don't put more on plate to "test" to see if your tummy can hold it,ok-promise ;)

eating the proper amount is the only way to go with your food intake -IMO of course ;)

(hope i understood what you said - and i spoke back correctly :)

sounds like you are doing great - started at 230 lbs - down to 163 lbs - goal in 23 lbs - good for you :)

good luck

At 6 months out I am eating about 900-1000 calories a day. My NUT has not given me an amount of food I should be eating since I have been on solid food. Tonight I had 3/4 cup of chili and cheese toast. Most sleevers cannot eat that much. I can easily eat 5 cups of popcorn. However, I do not eat nearly as much as I did pre-surgery. WIth my daily exercise routine I have lost 100 pounds. So, I have been successful I just need to be very mindful of the amount I eat.

3/4 cup of chili is not that much for 6 months out. And popcorn? ??? Popcorn is the very definition of a slider food. That's why you can eat so much of it. When you eat dense Protein and green veggies you should feel more restriction. 1000 calories at 6 months doesn't seem like too much at all. It seems like you're doing fine other than maybe making some bad food choices, but I'm only basing that on the little bit of food info you offered. It also sounds like you're getting close to goal. Congrats.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
