Vertical Sleeve 15 months

Recommended Posts

It has been 15 months since I had my sleeve surgery. I am doing very well, however I am at a stand still. I have lost 105 Lbs. to date. I am not loosing anymore weight right now and I am getting worried. I am not on any blood pressure meds or thyroid meds my sugar levels is normal and I don't have to use my sleep apnea machine anymore. I'm afraid I am going to relasp. Help!

It's a stall try to cut back carbs or add more Protein. Look for lilmissdivas boot camp people here talk about it all the times for stalls

Have you tried something crazy? I know, might sound weird but maybe its time to really shock the system. Like for example, adding significant time to work outs, or just eating Protein without any carbs, or eating way less calories- just for a week. Or something else you can think of. Maybe your body is in a rut cuz it is used to the normal grind. I think the answer might be easier than you think. I wish you all the best.

doing very well, - lost 105 Lbs. to date. not loosing anymore weight getting worried. afraid I am going to relasp. Help!

hey brown eyes

congrats on losing 105 lbs this past year - ,that is terrific !!! :)

i'm glad you realize how well you have been doing - the suggestions from OP are great - maybe even go back to basics for a week with liquids - to shake your body up a bit

we all have stalls unfortunately  but i'm sure you know that - all stalls shall pass

i bet you are feeling healthier now without having to take certain meds/CPAP

being afraid/'concerned" you will relapse, gain weight - most of us have that "concern" - we just have to keep working hard - so nothing bad does happen

one thing that will ALWAYS keep me going, not relapsing, is the strong memory i have of taking all my old meds, my not being able to walk well - and even not wanting to leave the house because i felt so awful about my appearance.

All the above plus more - i NEVER EVER want to go back there being "overweight" and unhealthy

i'm one year post op, so i'm still early in the maintenence processt - it will be hard for me too, but i must and will continue to be successful - and you can do this too

think back when you were heavier, sicker et al - it was no fun

I see your 40 years old - per profile, i don't know how much more weight you have to lose - whether its 50 lbs or 150 - you have to stay strong, and you can and WILL be successful :)

once you reach goal - this new life style will continue for the rest of your longer, healthier, happier liife

You - we ALL - have to remain strong - exercise your hands alot, by pushing yourself away from the table!! ;)

You can and will be successful!!!!

try not to think about what "might" happen wrong - concentrate on the fact that "OMG i have lost over 100 lbs - I can keep going and lose more - and maintain!!!!"

I only see B) good for you in the new year

head up

you got this

good luck bud

happy holidays :)

How much more do you have to lose?

How much/what do you eat?

Do you exercise?

Do you drink Water?

All of this information in needed in order to provide you with a relative answer.

You mention that you are off your thyroid meds. Not sure why you were on thyroid but I've heard most thyroid patients take the meds for life. If your thyroid wasn't functioning properly it doesn't just start working because you have lost weight. You may need thyroid medication to break your stall and to get your metabolism working again. Just a thought:)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
