Frustrated as hell!

Okay I understand that I'm not as heavy as a lot of sleevers but I want to lose weight too. I had the surgery 11/9 and I've only lost 25 lbs. Trust me I'm grateful; however, I've been at this weight for over a week. I've read post where no exercise take place and these people have lost 30lbs +. I'm drinking Water, eating nothing but Protein and walking an average of 18 miles per week. I'm crying because I feel like something is wrong. I'm even fighting the hungry that I sometimes feel. I can't talk to my family because they don't understand because they can see my weight loss. Can anybody relate to what I'm saying?????

What is your starting weight? 25 pounds is a good loss. Also, a week stall is quite common. If it were me I would try to get something besides Protein in, like some vegetables or some light Fiber like benefiber. Elimination is a good thing. Just protein can bind you up and stall you even with all the Water you drink.

Most whey powder has little fat in it especially mixed with skim milk or Water. The Protein in it makes it worth the calories consumed. Protein helps you lose weight and stay healthy.

Hang in there! It sounds like you have hit the typical plateau that even I hit at 4 weeks. I think you are doing great and doing everything right. Trust me- it is going to happen. I even thought at week 4 and 5 that I made a mistake because I just seemed to stop losing weight after dropping regularly. You will see the scale move soon. Promise!

I hit mine at 3 weeks (last week). Only lost 1/2 lb. Following the diet to the letter and getting the exercise, Water and Protein. I'm seeing some loss this week but probably a lb or maybe 2. It will happen. The body is adjusting. My suggestion is to track everything you eat. It really help give you a good idea of what is to many carbs, not enough protein. I go on mushies on Tuesday and I think that there will be some stalling again. But it will all be good in end. Eventually things will settle and you'll be losing again. Hang in there

Every body is different, don't compare yourself to others. Just keep on track and the scale will move. Have you measured yourself? You may have lost inches.

Stay focused.

I agree with Smokey!! We're all different, that's why we're called individuals. So don't compare, just continue doing the great things you have been doing, you'll get there. Might I suggest a Yoga class to calm your mind? It sure helps me to relax and put my mind at ease when the daily life gets overwhelming...relax, breathe, proceed..you'll do fine!!

I've lost 20 pounds this month. Unfortunately it is the same 2-3 pounds that I lost before and gained back over and over. But, and a very big but, I am still getting thinner. I am getting down to the place where my unattractive areas have become one area, my lower belly. It seems the fat has retreated there for a last stand with it's ally, loose skin. The battle continues.:)

20 pounds is really amazing! I am averaging 10 pounds a month which is great too but I can totally relate to the belly!!! Finally there aren't two belly's just one lower with loose skin- erggg. But I always enjoy your posts. You have broken some serious ground!!! You are pretty much at your goal! Congrats.

Nursedel, don't let the scale get you down. Have you measured yourself? Sometimes you lose inches and not pounds. You can't let the movement on the scale stop you from doing what you need to do and should be doing.

Also, you might need to take some Fiber to get your bowels moving as well as drink at least 64 ounces of Water.

As long as you are doing what you need to be doing, the weight will come off. Things will change. I stalled from May until September. In September, I started losing again and am down another 12 pounds.

I would say do a search on the 3 week stall, but you will be reading all night. Just read the link in my sig. You have hit the inevitable stall that most people hit in their first month. Don't fret and don't change anything. Certainly do not cut out your Protein Shakes. They do not make you fat. Keep drinking and walking and take 2 weeks off from weighing yourself. Start measuring yourself instead. Soon the weight will be falling off.

Thanks for the advice. I started at 198lbs and I'm sorry it's not 25 but 23lbs. I will try some vegetables tomorrow and add some fiber because I'm really irregular. You would think I would know that since I'm a nurse. I guess nursing only works when it's someone else I'm assessing....thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
