Of course I have a Bible. I am a Lector at church. That means I read from the Bible, to the congregation. But I don't own one of the Bibles on your list, so I guess mine isn't "instructed by God", right?

Christ, the ultimate authority, is not quoted in either Corinthians or Romans. My post said that Christ does not say a word about homosexuality in the Bible....and He doesn't. Nevertheless...

It does not say Ho either but we know what that is.

Okay, people saying THAT pisses me off more than anything. I do not believe in God, yours or any other. I am not going to riducule or patronize you for being a Christian, and I expect the same respect in return. THIS is why I usually keep my mouth shut about religion. People make comments that they think are fine, but they aren't. They are being patronizing and insulting. This is an extreme example, but if I was a Satanist, I wouldn't ask you why you were keeping two people that love each other apart (you and Satan) because you believed in God.

I absolutely said nothing about your beliefs, I simply ask the question.

I'd rather put my energy into registered sex offenders not getting married and having kids. Stopping vicious criminals from getting married makes alot more sense to me than stopping committed couples from it. We ought to be encouraging loving couples.......

People simply asking that question imply that my beliefs aren't good enough. It is an insult. Wouldn't you be insulted if someone comes up to you and starts quizing you about why you aren't obeying the Sabbath or praying to Allah every 5 hours or wearing a head-scarf? Somehow, Christians think it is absolutely fine to do that to Atheists.

I absolutely said nothing about your beliefs, I simply ask the question.

I'm curious as to why God would wait until 1946 to enlighten people as to the correct interpretation of this scripture. One would think He would have gotten around to that much sooner.

Congrats on the 13 years!

I'm also not going to spend energy bashing atheists. Would rather spend that energy bashing criminals. Just hard for me to see why bashing gays is worth energy with all the horrid things we need to fix, like people dying in war and a governement that protects the abuser of Senate pages. Odd priorities...seems like we've forgotten how to do any critical thinking.

God is my priority, and as far as gay people I have a few friends that are GAY and they know I work for a church and know what the bible says on the subject, but chose to ignore it. I still love them. In no way do I dislike them, well maybe a few lesbians, they don't seem to be as friendly. I'll be sorry I said that.:speechles

Guys, I am sorry if I seem super-sensitive about this, but I guess I have good reason. Next to weight-bashing, atheist-bashing seems to be one of the most accepted forms of discrimination. It just REALLY bothers me when people say offensive things. It bothers me even more when they play dumb and pretend like they don't know that what they're saying is offensive.

laurend, I am an atheist, too. I have my reasons for finding it impossible to believe in God but this lack of belief hasn't damaged my sense of ethics. In fact the thoughtful person who believes that this life is it feels a strong desire to be kind to those who are having a rough go at it. A lack of belief in God is not a free pass to behave badly.

1 Corinthians 6: 9-10

I've always wondered when I read this passage why homosexuals are singled out as it's targets by some. What about all the rest of those listed? I rarely hear them be as condemmed.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
