Hi all, developed a new symptom the last few days. I have started feeling light headed and a bit odd when standing up. Not sure if its a lack of calories or Protein etc. Roughly on about 60 g. Anyone else have this? Thanks Si

Have you been taking in enough fluids? I find that happens to me when I do not drink enough. It had gotten to the point one time I was going to go to the ER but after having some pedialyte and Powerade after a an hour or 2 I was feeling better.

If it continues to happen to you I would call your doc or goto the ER just to ensure it is nothing serious.

Hope you feel better!

Don't know how far out you are but it could be dehydration. It could also be low blood pressure. Have you had yours checked? I know a lot of people go in for the sleeve on blood pressure meds and forget that they are taking them and then there blood pressure goes too low and the feel light headed.

I, too, was sleeved on Monday and started experiencing the lightheaded symptoms. I contacted my NUT and she said it was probably due to having low CARBS. She suggested drinking some milk. For the most part, the symptoms went away after a day or so. Just try to get in as much liquid and some milk and you should feel better soon. Good luck!

Thanks all, I am two months out on Tuesday, I think I am drinking plenty but as others have said since they struggle with Water, so I drink lots of tea to get fluids in. I will try to step it up a bit to see if it helps. I think it could be a lack of sugars that's making me feel this way, we'll see. Thanks again :)

This could also be from low blood pressure. Even before my surgery I had low blood pressure (and a very low pulse). So now that I've lost quite a bit, everything seems to have slowed down even more. I now just try to remember to stand up very slowly. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
