Great suggestions. I will try the seeds. I am three months out and take metamucil clear dissolve twice a day (sometimes forget and take only once). That has helped, but I still think there's room for improvement on that front. Pre-surgery I used to take the regular metamucil daily and it worked wonders. After surgery I couldn't drink it fast enough and it would gel in my glass.

As far as the question "is it normal?", yes it is. Unfortunately. It took a good two weeks for me to go for the first time after surgery and then another couple of weeks more after that. It wasn't until about a month ago when things got more regular (once every two or three days).

Oh, they things we discuss in this forum! LOL. Love it!

Yesterday at lunch I took a tiny laxative pill and again last night and again this morning. Finally I had a bm this afternoon. First time in 2 weeks. It is a real problem for some of us. My doctor told me to take Mirilax, but the tiny pill is so much easier.

How the heck do you get 100 oz. of Water in? Ideas please..

You need to build up to it over time. It took a few months for me.

Before I found chia seeds, I would use the laxatives that go into the other end at you don't eat with. Lol. This worked in about 20 minutes, but I have read somewhere that it is not good to use this often because you might build up a dependence on it (not like a drug dependence, but you might find it hard to go without one). Dumping tons of Water did not help me post surgery like it did pre surgery. Not sure why. Also coffee does not help me any longer like it used to pre surgery with this going issue. Chia seeds has been the only reliable solution for me that can be taken on a daily basis followed up by Miralax. Remember to let the chia seeds gel. I do not know why it makes a difference, but it does. Maybe it has something to the effect of not having enough Water internally to achieve the same effects as consuming gelled seeds. Good luck. I sincerely mean that and emphasize with you. I have definitely been there and done that. :)

It's hard to get my 100 oz in, but it's worth the rewards. I buy 3 33oz Water bottles every morning, add Mio and drink big gulps as much as I can. I had surgery on 11-5, & in the last few weeks have been able to take bigger gulps. Another benefit is that my urge to snack is gone cuz I'm sooo water logged!

I do add chia seeds to some things. I may need to add them in more regularly to what I eat. I even carry a small container of them in my purse. I guess I just need to use them a lot more.

The Fibercon is a long-term solution. It doesn't work right away. Use one of the short-term solutions posted here and you can keep taking Fibercon which will help once it kicks in down the road.

I found a great solution after months of misery. 800 mg of magnesium (a supplement at any drug store - I would try 400 mg first to see if it works) in addition to two fiber gummies each day. Every once in a while I will take milk of magnesia, but it is now a very rare occurrence. There is no cramping, and that was important to me. Haven't tried chia seeds but they sound ok - there are many times where I am not willing to use 60 calories on a Tablespoon of chia seeds, but 15 cals for my fiber gummies doesn't bother me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
