My Bruised Port Incision

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone... I was just wondering if anyone else had bruising like this at their port site. It actually looks better now... was completely black before. Besides... I had a burning desire to share a pic of my big ole tummy with y'all! :sick

Youza!!!! I did not have any of that bruising at all. That looks painful. I in fact had ZERO bruising. WOW!! That is impressive.

I don't recall bruising like the either. If I did, it was from the Lovenox shots I had to give myself, not the incision site.

I know... I look at it and think... no WONDER it hurts...LOL!!! I won't see my surgeon until Tuesday so thought I would ask everyone here while I wait. It is getting better so hopefully it isn't anything to worry about but it sure put a damper on my plans to sport a bikini over the holiday weekend! :D J/K

It is pretty impressive isn't it Penni???? I couldn't be more proud... it's the biggest and best hematoma I've ever had!!!!:D

Holy smoke, Darcy!!! That looks awful! It almost took my mind off the fact that you weren't showing us a purple bra... :D

I glad Vera says she had one too and it went away, 'cause I sure didn't.

Did I mention, "ouch!!!"?

Darcy: It looks like the other site is bruised as well. Do you bruise easily? Did they say anything about you being anemic before surgery? THat could explain the extensive bruising.

Hiya Vera! Not that I wish bruising upon anyone, but it's eases my mind to see that you and Teresa had similar results after your surgery. Now I don't feel like such a freak... not that there is anything wrong with being a freak...hehehehehe;)

DONALI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU"RE BACKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! I'm always the last to know as you can tell from my excitement! :cheeky Welcome back and BTW... we all missed the heck out of you!!! Oh and don't worry... just because the purple bra and the steamy red glove aren't visible, does not mean they aren't there!:D Glad you're back!

Penni... Nope... not anemic at all but do tend to bruise easily... tis the only delecate thing about my body! The rest of me is as sturdy as an old farm hand.:D

Every one of my sites had been bruised like that. I bruise pretty easily though. The doctor saw mine when I had been in the hospital and didn't say anything about it. They stuck around for a couple of weeks and went away. T

That is some bruise! I didn't bruise like that, but it felt like that :D

I would've gotten more sympathy at home if I'd had one of those puppies!:D

Hope it feels better than it looks. Good luck with your healing.

Hi Darcy

Its Tuesday. What did your doc say? How are you feeling?

O new banded one.

Penni, I've battle anemia since I was 13. That probably explains my bruising.

Hiya Vera... What a sweetie you are to check in on me! The Doctor said tis all fine... not attractive... but fine...hehehe.

Having a really tough day today... probably just tired. It's a long drive to the doctor (1hr 45 min) and then had to go see the dietician... THEN... I had the bright idea of going to the Milwaukee Zoo! I love the zoo and wanted to do something fun with my hubby and daughter. By the time we got home... terrible pain... and soooo tired and just cried and cried while blending my 1/2 of a pear with 3tbs of cottage cheese. It's not that I'm hungry... 4 tiny bites later I was full. Maybe I'm just a like a crabby toddler and need a nap. *sigh*

Thanks again Vera... (((hugs)))

Darcy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
