So I'm 4 days post op.. Been home 3 days.. And I've been getting super sharp pains in my stomach & abdomen. They hurt so bad they take my breath away & nearly bring me to tears. Does anyone else have this problem? :'(

When you say sharp pains - are they out of nowhere? Do they come when you move around or just happen on their own?

If they're happening on their own you should probably call your doc.

Sometimes I'm just sitting or laying down & I feel a sharp pain.. It takes my breath away.. I'm not sure if maybe I just got a pocket of air stuck there or what.. Just trying to see if this is ever happened to anyone else?

Super sharp pains are not an acceptable side effect. Call your docs office. There should be someone on call if he's not.

Have you been walking? Got to get that gas out. Walking is going to do that.

Yes I walk nearly every hour for 5-10 minutes

Honestly, I would call the doc. I felt really badly about doing this at first - my surgery was right before Thanksgiving and I woke up with real acid/pain problems on Thanksgiving morning at 5 am. My wife insisted that we call the doc, she did, and not only was he gracious and helpful, he called back repeatedly throughout the day to monitor my progress.

Maybe I'm a baby about it but I'd just rather be safe than sorry.

It is a serious operation. Call your doctor if you are not comfortable with what is going on in your stomach.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
