I cant believe I just found these posts today. My surgery is tomorrow with Dr.Varnell. I still dont know what time, I m still waiting for my phone call.

I am so excited to get started on my new life and then I start feeling scared. I am scared to death that something bad will go wrong during surgery and I will develope a leak or infection or something. I just keep praying and then I feel a little better until it creeps up on me again.

Everything is going good. Can't do the Protein shakes. They are so nasty and make me feel so sick. I think I will just have to get my Protein from food. Other than that I am doing great. Thanks for asking and good luck to you. Please keep me posted on your progress!

Good to Walmart and get the strawberry body fortress super whey protein. That was the only one I was able to tolerate.

How's everyone doing? I have been away for awhile. I had my surgery from Dr. Varnell in November and doing very well now. I finally found a Protein that I like and that has made a big difference. Activity, besides running after a 5 year old, has been a big challenge for me, what with moving and stress at work!!!

Good morning Butterflysecrets! I had surgery 2/21/13. I am doing pretty good. My biggest problem is really trying to figure out my diet. Lol.....Getting correct amount of Protein and Water. I am really having a struggle with my water right now. I finally found a protein, too. It took a while. I ended up with Premier Protein from Sam's. Good luck to you....

Awe... Gotta love the 2 week pre op. It will be over soon. I did figure out that if you double up on instant Breakfast at Breakfast and lunch I stayed fuller longer... I can't say it gets easier but it gets more normal. Wednesday will be here soon

I'm happy to see all your posts. I will be self pay and only have a week off work. I'm looking into dr Alvarez because of the price and dr dirk Rodriguez due to the express option. Hoping to get this done SOON to get a normal life back!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
