Is this normal? Getting nervous...

Recommended Posts

I'm not even 3 weeks out. Today I ate 1/2 CUP of egg salad & a whole cup each of vegetarian chili & also cottage cheese. That is on top of having a Protein Shake this morning. I also had 48 oz. of Water. I only eat when I feel hungry, eat slowly & stop when I start to feel full. This seems like A LOT more food than I was told that I would be able to eat. I've had no problem getting it down or keeping it down. Is this at all normal? I'm really starting to get nervous.

Are you drinking while eating?

No. I wait until at least 45 minutes after I am finished eating to drink my Water.< /p>

I'm 4 weeks out. I am also able to tolerate a larger volume of food than I should be. This has been since day one. I am not drinking all my Water or getting in enough Protein. Have many concerns. Discussed this with my Doctor and Nutritionist. They both reassure me not to worry. My weight loss is also slow. Have a feeling something just isn't right. Your not alone..

How long ago were you sleeved? Have they done any x-rays or tests?

4 weeks. No tests done. Doctor doesn't seem to concerned.. I'm freaking out.

I definitely understand your concern. I am afraid that if I can eat this much so soon & tolerate it so easily & have REAL hunger then I am not going to get the results I want. You said that you are losing slowly, but are you losing consistently? You are the only one I have come across that has this similar situation.

Yes. I am disappointed in many ways. Trying not to get discouraged. It's concerning hearing that everyone else is barely able to get one egg down. I was looking so forward to that full feeling. Where are you from?

I was definitely looking forward to that full feeling too. If this is all I get then I feel cheated. I live in NY state. How about you?

I take anywhere from 30-40 minutes to eat a meal.

Stop after 20 min. This should help! This is one of the rules that also helps with Portion Control.< /p>

Hello fear not your not alone. I was freaking out because I have been able to eat more then I thought I would. I have lost about 15 pounds but everyone else who has the same date has lost been 20-30 so I feel behind. Also I read that people can only eat 2 bites and I feel like really?

What I am doing is measuring everything and going off what the doc/ dietican say I should eat. I then time myself 30 minutes and no matter what the portion dont finish it. I have only gotten really full once and it was just one bite that pushed me over. My nut says I am on the right track. I am also able to drink bigger sips then the begining. I do fear the what if...what if doesnt work? Did they really operate? Is everything okay?

Right now my goal is to get the Protein and and fluids supose to have 80-90 grams of Protein and around 10 glasses of fluids not there yet. My hubby does say I am shrinking though. I have PCOS and I am scared as it is always soooooo hard for me to lose weight. I did find I am craving Snacks like crazy what the hell! Dont buy it ....for now I guess I have to take it day by day! Hang in there so hard not to compare to others

Just know your not alone!

Did your doctor give you maximums? i.e. My surgeon, at that point would tell me no more than 1/4 cup of food OR stop when you are satisfied. (Not full but satisfied) - But even if I wasn't satisfied by 1/4 cup, I stopped.

Also would recommend taking way less time to eat . I take no more than 10 minutes, personally. Chew thoroughly but get yourself satisfied by eating at a good pace and then be done.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
