Surgery in Mexico

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am having the surgery but just not sure where. My plan is to have it at Huacuz Surgical Center by Dr. Huacuz. Has anyone Lapband surgery from him? My husband, family and friends are worried about having it in Mexico yet I am not and it is half the price as USA. I don't have insurance that will cover it in the states. Please reply ASAP. Thank you.

And how much is he charging you? I hope you don't mind me asking!?! I am thinking about going to Mexico, too! I just don't know where or how to begin my search for a quality physician south of the border.

I had Lapband surgery from Dr. Huacuz in August 2006 and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I will never have surgery in the US again. He is the most passionate and caring physician and his team is the best in the world. He has made a difference in my life. I was nervous too but after my husband had his done in May 2006 by the same physician, I felt safer in Mexico than I did in my own hometown. My email address is: maryblvnv@aol.com if you want to ask more questions or need more information I would be more than happy to help out.

God Bless

You all will do great and don't worry it's not worth it. It was much more simple than when I had a crown done, I swear. I too had a wonderful experience in Mexico and would go back in a heartbeat, much more caring than here. Dr. Sanchez done mine and it was 8500.00. Keep us informed, all of you. Good luck.

I had my surgery done by Dr. Aceves on 10/06 in Mexicali, Mexico, just south of El Centro, California. Everything went just fine and I would recommend him to anyone. The hospital was new and very nice. I felt I was in good hands. Good luck and God Bless!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
