I was sleeved today about noon. First few hours in recovery were horrible, but I am doing much better now. Been up a few times to make laps around the nurses' station, that really helped me feel better! Any post sleevers out there with advice for surviving the first few days?

Walk walk walk and keep sipping when you are finally allowed to sip. I know thats what everyone will tell you but its about all that you can really do while still in the hospital I was a night owl while in there and I would walk the halls and night and talk to the nurses. When you get home its the same thing make sure you dont get to comfy on the couch cus once you get comfy its time to get up and walk around again! Find your fav thing to sip on and keep it near by luckly for me it was Water I was able to still tolerate normal water and not need to add anything to it, and Milk 1% was one of my fav morning things to sip on! hope this helps and congrats on making it to the losers bench sweetie! :)

If you have pain meds, take them. Take them on a regular basis, not just when you feel pain. :)

congrats! i was sleeved on 12/12 as well but at 10:30, night in the hospital wasn't too bad (maybe it was the morphine pump) but the day after sucked! anyways, I am on the mushy diet -_- and can't wait til the first two weeks are over :D on the positive side ?I have switched to tylenol instead of the prescribed drugs!

Pain meds around the clock cause if u wait till pain hits it's really hard to catch up. Sip. And walk. Just relax soon u will be on the losers bench!!

Thanks for all the advice! They took the pump out right before discharging me. I'm doing pretty good, I think. I'm in a lot less pain than I expected, and am moving around really well. I take my pain meds when I need them, and so far I have not been overwhelmed. Yesterday I was finally able to pick things up off the floor, yay! The hardest part is getting everything in. Everyday I can drink a little more, but I'm still not getting 64oz. The "head hunger" has returned as of tonight. I was perfectly fine til an Olive Garden commercial came on, then I felt hungry. Took some sips of Water, pretending it was a scrumptious Italian dish, and the "hunger" went away. These first few days have not been easy, but I know its going to be worth it!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
