Need a little pep talk

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved last Thursday (wrote a small review today) and I have no problem drinking liquids including a complete Protein Shake in a few minutes time. So I'm worried that I'm going to be able to eat too easily too. My stomach growls numerous times a day. It seems like everyone else has no interest in food or only has head hunger. Is there anyone out there the same as me but when it came time for food they could only eat a few bites?

Thanks

Jean

I only had a problem drinking for a few days. The eating part is still small amounts. I also thought if I could drink so much, I'd be able to eat just a tad more than I am getting. My stomach growls too and I just drink more.

people handle it differently. Liquids pass right thru the stomach with very little hold time. Once you get to puree and soft you will realize how little you can eat. as they just because you can doesn't mean you should..probably why most of us are the way we are.

awww your afraid to eat! don't be. as long as you stick to dense Proteins, you will be ok. you'll see, you probably won't be even able to finish a whole chicken leg or even 1 egg. you'll be ok. do the best you can.

I'm not sure what a bougie is so I can't say. I hope you all are right and I'm full after a few bites. We'll see maybe at the end of next week.

JeanMR1: a bougie is the guide they use when removing the stomach. I had to call my surgeon's office and ask them. They told me my bougie was a 32........Maybe you can check with your surgeon and ask what size they used.....Let us know if you can. Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
