ISleevedIt 380 Posted December 12, 2012 I received results from a blood test and it shows that the "rheumatoid" test says it should be < 14. My result was 18. That along with swollen wrist, I'm pretty sure I have it. I see the rheumatologist tomorrow. My question is, has anyone here with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have the sleeve done. Are there any specific consideration for the sleeve when a person has RA?
NysiOklahoma 7 Posted December 20, 2012 JustSleeveIt, I was diagnoised with RA 3 years ago, and I had my Sleeve surgery 12-11-12. My surgeon said this is the best option if you have RA. I had to stop my meds two weeks prior to surgery and 6 weeks post surgery. I pray all goes well! Nysi!
mommy794 119 Posted December 20, 2012 The labs being abnormal does not necessarily meaning you have it. I have had high test results before and then had normal test later back n forth . I used to have various ongoing joint pains which have been much better the past few years. And i don't have RA. So just keep on top of it and hope for the best! I saw a rheumatologist a few times and they said no I don't have it even though these other things were going on.
Dash 0 Posted January 24, 2013 One slightly elevated test and one joint isn't too much to worry about. If your still concerned and having an issue I would asked to be retested. I have been diagnosed with RA for about 4 years now. I'm still in the early stages of getting a sleeve. I have an appointment to see the surgeon the 15th of next month. I feel like I have done enough research, I'm comfortable with the decision and would gladly have it done as soon as possible.
