5 weeks out and first sliming and puking experience

Recommended Posts

Let me start by acknowledging that I know I'm lucky that I haven't had any issues before now. Today's dinner of just over an ounce of baked salmon and 3 slices of pre packaged apple slices with a tsp of Peanut Butter pretty much sent my mouth sliming almost immediately. About ten minutes later, up she came. The bright side? I was impressed with how well I chewed my dinner. :)

I am sorry you are going through this. I am pre-op so please forgive my ignorance. What is sliming?

Thank you :). It's when your mouth begins to run with excess saliva. It usually only happens to me before I vomit, but I've read here that some people will slime wo vomiting. Not my experience tonight.

I slime when I eat chicken or something that is too dry. But it also happened after a spoonful of frozen yogurt and another time with avocado. I think my "sleevie" is sensitive to textures. It usually passes within 5 minutes and I have not thrown up once since surgery. My NUT said that if something causes slimming, I should wait a few weeks before trying it again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
