I'm alive! My surgery was onSaturday morning, and I'm currently still in the hospital. My surgeon was over 2 hrs late, which pissed everyone off, including the nurses, and other medics, and especially my dad. When he did finally show, he was kinda rude and didn't really talk to any of us. After surgery I had some issues with pain management and sipping. I passed my sip test, only to vomit very aggressively an hour later which is why I'm still here. The staff at Forest Park has been wonderful except for one neglectful nurse. Make sure you have someone to advocate on your behalf. That's very important. So far so good, maybe I'll get to go home today!

Surgery went very well. I have walked a lot without nausea. I am surprised that I am not miserable! I can drink ice Water better than the broth or the Crystal Light. I'd say so far so good!!

Glad to heard that your surgery went well. I'm with you Zi can tolerate ice chip and water, and only chicken broth. I have been walking but still have bad gas from surgery. Best of luck!

B E A N 2 B E 5 5 !-- This is your moment! You are the only one on the list that is having surgery today. I hope you are excited but calm at the same time. I pray that your drive to the hospital is a safe one. May He take any doubts about your procedure from your mind, as if it was not in His plan for you, you would not be here. I hope you are surrounded by supporting family in friends during your journey and that they bring no harm, intentional or unintentional, your way. Hopefully your surgeon has had his coffee for the morning and is as pleasant as his nursing and physician staff. We will pray you through this surgery. Please post when you feel up to it to let us know you are A-OK!

WIth that said, It's that time again-

GO FORTH AND BE SLEEVED my friend! Your flowers will be here waiting on you!

"Cheer leader-- O--U---T"!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
