Things I definitely won't miss!

Recommended Posts

In getting myself excited about the upcoming journey, I've decided to list some things I can't wait to say good bye to forever!

  1. the plus size section: though its been a necessity, they never have clothing that fits my stylish personality. ready to wear the stuff I circle in my magazines :)
  2. Triple D bras: Although people pay for breast this size, I'm a living witness that they do a number on one's lower back. Besides paying $70-$100 for one bra that isn't even all that cute, I can finally wear dressy shirts to work that don't look so provocative
  3. Dieting! This probably should've been #1 on my list. Thank goodness to get rid of all the pills and fads and plain ol falling into the trap of trying to lose a few pounds here and there. This weight is going for good!
  4. Never feeling full. I don't know about some, but for me, my appetite matched my weight. I feel so hungry all the time. Ghrelin or whatever that hormone is called has kicked my a@$ for a while and now I can eat feel satisfied.
  5. Size 9 and 10 rings. I hated shopping for jewelry because my fingers were so huge. I'd pick the cutest rings and have to have them re-sized two sizes bigger. Now I have my rings in a standard size
  6. Not being able to finish my mile time in under 13 minutes. When I was in high school I ran track and could run a mile in about 5-6minutes. Since I've been in college, I can't even run a full lap without huffing and puffing for my breath. One thing I will make my top priority is my endurance. LA Marathon here I come

This was just to name a few, but they definitely were some major hinderances in my years of being overweight. I don't know about you other December sleevers, but at least we never have to leave another year obese again! The perfect ending of a year!

(doing my happy dance) lol

Hi princesstia when are you having surgery? I'm Dec 19 and can't wait, I agree it will be amazing to feel full and have no appetite, and to be able to buy anything that isn't a handbag. Good luck with your journey

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
