I was wondering if it is common to still be in pain 4 weeks after surgery? I get plenty of walking in and most days I get all my Fluid and Protein. I'm assuming that the pain is my actual stomach that hasn't healed yet??? And I was wondering if eating gets easier as time goes on? It's so uncomfortable to eat most things so I just like prefer not to.

At 4 weeks out there was some discomfort. I was on a puree at 3 weeks. This is quite a transitional period where your stomach is adjusting somewhat. Take it slow and if it's really painful, please call your surgeon because it's not normal....:)

I would definitely at least call the surgeon's office and ask. The only "pain" I ever really had was where the internal stitches were on my side where they removed my stomach and that has slowly gone away as they begin to dissolve. I am just 4 weeks out also and feel great, but everyone is different. If nothing else, at least the phone call would put your mind at ease.

I never really had pain after my surgery, it was more of a soreness and being tender. If you are still feeling that kind of pain and not being able to eat, that should really be discussed with your doctor. Good Luck!!

I agree. I did not have pain, just general soreness. The only pain I had was that blasted gas pain in the shoulder. Better call.

Have you tried antacids? It can manifest in some odd ways. I get a Jerky feeling superficially ofver my rib cage that goes away when I take antacids.
