Just sleeved this morning...

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery today at noon. I'm sitting in the hospital recovery room. 5 small incisions & I'm on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. Overall, it wasn't too bad. A little bit of gas in my tummy from when they inflated it, but I have been walking & that helps A LOT. Anyone that is pre-op.. It wasn't that bad.. Pain is a 2-3/10. Well worth it. Today is the beginning of my new life! :)

Congrats to you! I'm laying in my bed now as well. Got sleeved around 130. Gas isn't bad at all. Had bad nausea when I got up to pee earlier that I threw up for a bit and lots of dry heaves. So they gave me some drugs for that. As long as I stay horizontal the nausea stays away. Have only gotten up twice so far. I was in recovery for 3 hours and then got to my room about 6.

Have two incisions and those don't hurt but my abdomen does.

Hope you have a great night and get some sleep.< /p>

I was sleeved today around noon as well. I'm lying in my hospital bed and can't sleep. The gas pain is what is killing me tho. They also found I had a hiatal hernia so she had to repair that. No nausea yet so far thank god although a little heartburn type feeling. But I think it was from the lemon glycerin swabs they were giving me for dry mouth. So I stopped those. Leak test is at 8:30am and looking forward to some water! ESP looking forward for all these wires too come off so I can put on my own clothes and walk around more. :)

Congrats ladies! It's so nice to hear from some people who have had recent surgery! I am getting sleeved on Christmas Eve and I'm super nervous but very excited too! I'm glad you girls aren't feeling to bad, I'm really terrified of getting and feeling sick as its a fear of mine but I know it comes with the surgery. Wishing you ladies a speedy recovery :-)

Yes walk. Get moving and you'll be fine. Four days out and the nurses laugh at me because I am always on the move

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
