Is anyone sorry they did it?

I am scheduled to have my surgery on January 7th and am nervous. So, I'm wondering...any regrets? What has been the worst part?

Sorry I didn't do it sooner.

My only regret is the misconception I had about how life would be after surgery. Before surgery, I had a lot of 'last suppers' / 'food funerals' because I thought I would never be able to eat normally again. Instead, I have found that I can eat my favorite foods, but I do so in normal size portions.

I mourned being able to eat HUGE portions. My sleeve keeps me eating 3 oz of cottage cheese instead of all 20oz with a box of crackers. It is sad, but I find I am focusing more on the taste of food vs the act of eating.

I have no regrets.having the sleeve.

The hardest part for me was that I had the runs real bad for about a week after the surgery and found it hard to stay hydrated because of it so felt ill. Also for the first 10 days my emotions were all over the place and I felt like I would be depressed forever. Everything got better after the first 10 days and after 5 weeks out I am down 26 pounds. I can eat pretty much anything ( not on red meat yet) just in smaller portions. For the first time in my life I feel like there might be light at the end of the weight loss tunnel. Hope this helps and wish you luck in your journey. Xxx

Ok I am only four days out and just had a small bowl of Soup and some jelly. It took me a while to eat it but I did and I am fine. Things are so different here. Not the same restrictions. No pre-op,in hospital for 4 nights and being looked after really well. So far so good :)

No regrets! I truly believe that you can't make a true assessment until your on regular foods. I went through the mourning food phase, but you're right, taste becomes soooo much more important now than quantity. I can eat anything I want in much smaller portions. I'm 4 months out and couldn't be happier. Down 65 lbs. that I never thought I'd lose!

NEVER! Best gift in the world. Wish I would have done it sooner. I believe that this is the only thing that would have ever worked for me. My doctor has done over 800 and he said no one ever came in and asked for their stomaches to be put back in! I can eat everything just in smaller amounts. I am like a normal person which is all I ever wanted.

Nope. it's great being "normal" again.

This operation will pay for itself sooner than most investments in ANYTHING will, saved food costs and MUCH saved health care costs.

Nope! On my way to my 2 month post-op visit with my surgeon-I've lost over 50 lbs since 1st visit with him in August! Sooo happy! Is it easy? No-I have a lot of food issues to work through. I eat too fast and am learning not to and try really hard not to eat that one bite too many that i'm accustomedto doing, as well. One meal at a time is my motto! Feel 10 years younger - 50's are the new 30's after being sleeved!

I LOVE MY SLEEVE, I wish I never cancelled that first appt. and then waited a year to get another one. I'm so happy I finally can bend at the knees with no pain, my cholesterol went down over 100 points and my unhappiness went away, I love going out and I love putting on my skinny jeans with ease! I can eat whatever I want with no problems and I am only 8 weeks out, this is truly the BEST thing I have ever done for myself EVER!!!! :D

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
