Any sleevers having surgery 12/17?

Recommended Posts

..I'm a 12/17 sleever as well. I'm doing okay just having a hard time telling the difference between head hunger and real hunger. I'm doing ok with sipping my liquids and not eating to fast. I'm also getting used to what this new "full" feeling is because it is definetly different from Pre sleeved.

Yes it's pretty interesting on the way the new full feels like. But its still a struggle for me to grasp the fact I can't drink and eat at the same time . But in getting a hang of it because if not it hurts lol

Hey 17ers, anyone having intense bad breath-- the kind you can't just brush your teeth or eat a mint to make go away? Any suggestions to solve it? The worst problem is that I can't even smell it but my hubby can... :-/. PRevious posts talk about this being a result of ketosis which is good but looking for suggestions to manage it. I was thinking of pureeing some parsley or...

Hi all...I was sleeved on the 17th as well and doing ok other than the nausea. Anyone else experiencing that? Surgeon upped my antacids but I'm still having symptoms. :( it was suggested I might be drinking too fast but cant imagine thats it because i really stick to his no more than 2 oz in 15mins formula. If anyone has any suggestions for managing the nausea, I'd greatly appreciate it.

How's the 17th Sleevers doing? We are close enough to mushy foods to almost taste it!!! :)

How's everyone doing?

I am learning to like hot tea more and more, but I do really miss my coffee! I am finally able to keep my liquids in. This has been a difficulty, but I am thankful that I was able to avoid becoming dehydrated.

I did come up with an awesome recipe for a dessert, or to help with a chocolate craving! I'll share if there are those that would like the directions.

Pat yourselves on the back!! We have made a step to better our lives and our future!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
