Hi. My name is Kim.

I'm new here but not new to banding. I was banded on 11/4/02 and find that I NEED some support.

I have gained 25 lbs over the last two years. My husband and I underwent fertility treatments starting in February 2005 ending in June 2006. All treatments failed so we have moved on to adoption of older children thru DCFS. I've been told that medically, my body will not get back to normal for a year from last round of hormone injections. My band was unfilled for 2 months. Now getting back on track but not really losing, jut maintaining. Anyway, I'm glad I found a good place to hang out and get and give support.

:faint:

Welcome Kim,

I think adoption is the most wonderful, rewarding gift you can give someone and I admire you and your husband for giving a child a chance and firmly believe you will be greatly rewarded for it. Good luck on your weightloss, it is a constant challenge.

Hi Kim,

I think it is great that you are adopting. I work for a child-serving agency that takes care of abused, abandoned and neglected kids. There are so many kids out there that need wonderful, caring parents. I admire you for choosing adoption, although I am sure you were disappointed when your other efforts did not work out as hoped. But, somewhere there is a child just waiting to be blessed by you.

How much of a fill do you have in your band now? I am sure you will get back on track again soon. I am glad you are posting with us.

It's much appreciated!

I have a 3.4 cc fill right now. I was up to 4.4 cc in April but I had horrible reflux while I was sleeping! So we unfilled for 2 months and then started fresh in June. Doing ok now. I have definite issues with reverting back to old BAD habits, but trying to gain control of that again. I am due to go back for another fill on December 1st.

I'm a very slow loser. I think I totally messed up my metabolism. From July 26th to September 21st, I lost 1/2 lb. I had started working out at Curves so I had some inch loss but nothing the scale could measure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
