My husband just does not understand

Recommended Posts

Omg!!! Why does he keep eating in front of me?? I was recently sleeved on 12/5, so I am on a clear liquid diet. These wonderful smells are killing me. I would really like for him to be more sensitive to my situation. STOP EATING IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!!!

I am 2 weeks post-op. I had to do the first week of just Water. Now I am on shakes & water. I had the same issue with my boyfriend who I live with. He actually made bacon & eggs. It was torture. I just straight out asked him to not eat at home until I could at least move onto soft foods. I asked him nicely & explained how much I needed his help to be successful. Since then he has been great about eating away from home. Have you asked him to not eat in front of you? Sometimes men really need things spelled out. LOL ;)

I agree that we have to spell some things out to them. I have asked but not in those words. Tonight I said, "I guess you don't feel my pain and understand what I am going through." His response was, "uh".. Like WTF!!! So I said, " we'll, I guess that means no." He said he does, so when our little girl goes to bed, I guess we will discuss this more.

It did not bother me right away, but now I am having a hard time smelling it and not wanting it.

I guess every doc is different because I am 2 weeks post op and I came home from the hospital on day 3 eating cream of wheat, cream Soups, puddings etc....as a matter of fact, they gave it to me on the hosp....Today was my 2 week follow up and I am off of food restrictions....just eat when hungry, eat til full, chew, chew, chew and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.....I tried puree and could not handle that....10 days post op, I tried the string cheese....I haven't been nausea once.....

I reacted the same way at first. When I smelled the bacon I literally said, "Are you kidding me? Do you not understand what I'm going through?!" He said he did and I just angrily said "Obviously, you don't". It wasn't until I calmed down & actually talked with him & straight out asked for his help that I got it. I hope that it goes well for you. I know how difficult this is being only 1 week ahead of you. We can do this! Be strong.

My fiance and sin have been eating in front of me and it bothers me a little knowing that I cant have the same, but I made this decision, not them. My surgery is this Friday.

I agree with Leah, why should he have to suffer because you chose to have surgery and do this to yourself. I came home from surgery and asked my husband to please just not make bacon. Other than that he is free to make and eat whatever he wants. I also cook them dinner and can't eat any of it. It doesn't bother me. I chose this journey, he didn't.

Well, I have asked my husband to please not eat one specific thing as well..which is why it was so difficult. I totally understand that "I" made this decision along with the support of my husband. I don't care abt them eating in the house; I would just like it if you not come in the same room with me. I guess we all have our own ways of thinking (which we are all entitled to.)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
