Any words of wisdom

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I had my surgery aug. 24th and my first fill oct.11 and i feel no restriction and i have not lost any weight, and i can't help but feel that same old feeling of failure and i worried that nothing will happen for me. When did you all start seeing results and did anyone start out the why i am. Any words of wisdom are truly appertiated. Thanks RJB:confused: :omg:

Sweetie calm down. You have not failed!!! It took me 3 fills before I felt restriction. In fact, on my first 2 fills I had lost some of my fill (absorbed into my body). My third fill they changed me to a thicker saline (omnipaque ??spelling) to prevent the saline from being absorbed into my body.

And just a warning, my third fill kicked in 2 weeks and 1 day after the fill. WOW!!! I heard of that happening but didn't think it would happen to me.

Give this fill at least another week. If no restriction, call for another fill.

Melisssa does that mean the doctor missed the port?

RJB you are not the only one. Lots and lots of the banded have those same concerns. Give it time. Are you exercising and eating right? Those 2 things will assure positive results and your success. The band is a tool and we have to work it.

No, my port was never missed. I get all my fills under fluoro. They fill me to the level, they pull out the saline to make sure that's the level and put it right back in. He told me that for some people, the normal saline is more greatly absorbed through the body and that causes you to lose some of your fill. They changed my saline to some thicker stuff and this one still has the same level of restriction, once restriction set in.

Don't get discouraged, please! The real weightloss doesn't usually start until you reach proper restriction. Most people do not get that on the first fill. It usually takes 2-3 fills, but when it happens, you will know it, the weight will start falling off and you will love your band again.

How long does your doctor make you wait between fills? Also, what size band do you have and how much fill did he give you?

Thanks guys, I feel a whole lot better now. On this site is the only place where i can get advice and support because i work satudays and can't go to support groups. I have been off and on with exercise because i have phisyical job and my energy level is low and my knees and ankles always hurt. Now i could use some diet tips because i hate veggies and i do go out to eat three times a week. I also have a 4cc band. I guess i am rushing things a bite, i just dread the holidays with the thinnest in laws ever and just hate getting those coy looks like she gained it back again. Any one else feel my pain? MY docter makes me wait 4weeks, next fill is nov. 8th and i got 1.25cc. But i just like to thank you all again. RJB:nervous

RJB Diet tip 1. drink your Water and 1 Protein Shake a day to replace a meal. 2. Veggies come in all forms, have you tried the new v8 splash ( I did not like the original v8 but the tropical splash is yummy) Veggies in a bottle. Also, look at what a serving size of veggies are, it is not a huge bowl or plate anymore. 3. Eat your Protein first and leave the sugar and white flour alone. 4. You must get some exercise in, that also comes in all forms. Raise your heart rate, sweat a bit, run in place, sit in the chair and punch your arms in front of your and up in the air. Lift hand weights, use resistance bands. Good luck and work the heck out of your band.

Dont worrry usually there is fat around the band so when the band is tighten after a while the fat between the stomach and the band starts to dissolve and the band gets loose ( less restriction ) so it takes several fills for the band to really tighten. This is what the Dr. told me the first time I had a Fill.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
