Ladies I need some help here....

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved in Aug. 2010, down 200 lbs, still have approx 100lbs to go need some help here. My boyfriend recently proposed 3 weeks ago and we are looking at getting married later next year. Still have 100 lbs to go and weight loss stopped for me about 6 months ago. I have thought about seeing if my new health insurance would pay for gastric bypass (more than likely they would) but I know what i've been through with the sleeve and we are wanting children, don't wanna have to wait another 2 years and then have to be considered a high risk pregnancy as a result regardless of my actual health. My wanting to get down to my goal weight before we get married has nothing to do with him, its what i want. He loves me just the way that I am loose skin and all. What can I do here, I really can't get much help from my surgeons office, I moved for a new job 4 months ago and it is not convenient for me to drive 125 miles one way, may take a while and countless visits; the new nutritionist and exercise lady i'm not to fond of. The ones that were there when I initially went through are no longer there, these new ones, uh.... I moved to a small town in rural Iowa, no health clubs around here, closest is 50 miles away. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on marriage! I am only five days out but reading these forums has become a constant fave past time. All say the something in your case start over on a two week liquid and process back through to two weeks, purée, two weeks soft and finally back to solid focusing on Protein and liquids daily leaving off carbs, fats, and sugars.

Living on a rual area walking/jogging is the best aerobic excersies but with the cold month you might want to check out some Zumba or palates. YouTube has many 30 min workouts for free if you do not want to buy the DVDs.

I have heard this so many times over the year I have prepared for surgery: "The sleeve is just a tool and to lose weight you still have to do the work to make that tool effective."

You can do this and you will be so happy with yourself when your wedding comes! Keep us posted I know you will be a beautiful bride!

Hello and congrats on your weight loss so far and on your marriage. I have some info but out of fear of back lash, I don't want to post it on here so send me a private msg. I was sleeved 10/11/12 and was losing very slowly and then not at all ao I started looking for ways to boost my weight loss and I stumbled onto something online and started this "diet" last week and since I started, I swear to you I have seen pounds dropping daily. This diet probably goes against your NUT or Dr (I know it goes against mine) but if you are interested just msg me. BTW it does not require any gimmicks or pills or anything fishy AND I am not trying to sell you something. I swear! :) lol BTW, this also doesn't require exercise.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
