Spouse feeling guilty

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is set for January 11th, however, my husband is already concerned about how he can eat around me and not feel guilty. He, himself, has lost 105 lbs, and identifies with the struggles of weight loss. Any suggestions I can pass along to him?

don't know what to suggest.

BUT, my sweet son (who lost about 64 pounds himself) always offers me food, and quickly realizes that it is something that I can't eat----Mom, do you want, oh sorry, I love you mom

Lol

My wife is feeling the same way. It is difficult because it is just the two of us and I have always cooked for her. She is very thin and typically eats what she wants. She was just saying how she feels guilty - This is moslty because I am on a pre-op liquid phase right now so I image it will pass somewhat.

I guess maybe ask him why he feels guilty? My wife feels guilty because she knows that I literally can't eat what she is eating right now and the first week of liquids was rough. Now, I am feeling more confident about what I can and can't have and I have assured her that it is ok, and that I am ok, and that I want this surgery and weight loss WAY more than I want her food :)!

Maybe he feels guilty because he thinks that you want what he is eating?

My husband felt guilty too. I only had a problem with him eating in front of me while I was on fluids only. Now that I can have food it's not a problem. I even love to cook for him again. For me it has gotten better with time & being able to have food of my own. Hope that helps :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
