Holy Cow surgery monday! So much anxiety & fear

Recommended Posts

Talk about breaking my heart. My son (5) and I were talking and I said I was scared about my surgery Monday and he goes "you can always see me from heaven and I can remember you in my mind" shocked I have him able to understand, then floored told him don't kill me off so quick.

So of course I end up bawling. I'm just scared. Nothing about the actually surgery scares me, I have a high pain tolerance, not worried about stitches, just dying and not being there for my son.

Congrats!!! Your feelings are normal. Last wk about this time I was feeling the same way. I had my surgey last Monday. while changing into my hostipal gown i looked at my husband and said, i change my mind lets go before they come and get me. He laughed and said yea right for the last three months thats all you been focusing on so get it done you know you want to. I was joking and he know it was just nerves talking. I am so thankful my insurance started paying for the sleeve this year. If i had to do this over i would. before you know it you will be home sipping on Protein Drinks and Soup broth and Jello. Wishing you best of luck on your journey to a healthy you. You can do this, I will have you in my prayers!

Thanks guys, I love this site it's the best support from those who are in our same shoes.

Now shifted my worries to the fact I have to lose weight by tomorrow morning. I was down 7lbs Friday morning, this morning it went back up 4lbs. Seriously? Hoping its because Friday and Saturday drank a ton of chicken broth, praying it was from all the sodium. I've already drank 54oz of Water this morning and dietetic, praying it comes back off.

OMG now I'm scared. I'm going to workout today at the gym, so I'll weigh myself there. I've been doing what I'm supposed to be doing so I'm praying I dropped some pounds. Right before my last consult and liquid diet, I lost 6 of the pounds I gained back, so I'm sure I lost more.

I'm tomorrow too! I think the "pre-freak out" is normal. I'm a little anxious myself.

kids sometimes say the most awesome things, but I am assuming he is one of the reasons you decided to have this surgery because you want to be there

to see him grow up. I am only 4 days out but I am sorry that I waited until I was 51 to do the surgery, I think my health suffered and so many things

i might have enjoyed with my children had I not been overweight. Hoping to make up with the grandkids!

I am having surgery on Tuesday and I am so weak from the liquids and have such a screaming headache that I'm starting to wonder if this is really for me...and I'm so nervous! I've been wanting this for years too so I'll go thru with it but when I feel so bad now it's hard to know how bad I'll feel afterwards.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
