I was a huge beer fan pre op. I loved all kinds and did not mind spending extra money on good beer. I loved enjoying good beer with friends on the weekend and trying new types of beer. It was fantastic and refreshing in warmer months and in cooler months it was fun drinking darker and special edition beer.

Post sleeve I no longer drink beer and do not plan on doing it again. This choice to have 75% of your stomach removed is not something to take lightly. After you've studied the process and the behavioral expectation, you have to be realistic with yourself for your plans to comply.

Just like everything... Is a life time change... Once you do your surgery everything is different, I not that you wouldn't have a beer or two, is about making a step that will stop you from losing weight... That doesn't mean you can't have beer or alcohol ever again... It just mean, you may be able to have it every now and then but after surety nothing is the same... Let me give you an example before surgery I was a "sodas" person... So I did good my 1st 5month... But since November oh lord... I just been having sodas every now n then n guess what?!? It hurts the weight process... So!! I'm not the best to give advise, but if you can't stop n let go... Is better...

Good luck :)

Goldy,

I was 5 months out and finally one day i just couldnt take it...i needed to have a ice cold bud...

The first time after a few sips i felt bubbles from the carbination so i decided to give it up.. then a week later i wanted to make sure, and much to my surprise it went down much smoother, i was able to drink a full beer, but i have a 2 beer max, because for me i really start to feel the bubbles and it hurts, just feels like bad gas in my chest...I'm totally fine with my 2 beer max
:)

This whole thing is so individual experience, u really need to just see what works and what doesn't.. I know people that can't eat popcorn, i tolerate it just fine, others can eat chicken, i can't...it's so all over the board.

Cheers, Rai

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
