My doctor didn't give me much info about what Vitamins to take, when to start taking them, etc. All he told me was B12. What do you guys take or what did your doctor tell you to take? Does it have to be a certain form?

Any advice would be great!

I was told by my nut: a chewable Multivitamin, B12 1000mcg sublingual, B complex w/ thiamine. 2000iu Vitamin D. Specifically for women, 1200-1500mg daily of a chewable Calcium citrate. And Biotin for hair loss.

The B complex is nasty I'm told.

I know there's lots of others who have different instructions, but this is this list straight from the binder they gave hand out to everyone that comes through their office.

Do those all taste ok? I'm not too concerned with ones I swallow but I don't want to chew something nasty.

They are not bad at all! The bariatric one is berry flavored and easy to chew. I have tried a few and this one is the best!

PPI? What about the Iron and Biotin? They are both pills...can I not take them right away?

PPI is just an acid reducer like prilosec but i got a prescription version, it calms the stomach rumbles. I was never told to take Iron and it didn't show up bad on my labs? And I don't take Biotin, there's no help for the wicked case of male pattern baldness i have been rocking the last few years!

I have been taking these since day one of my preop diet. I also take two Synthroid tablets and a Prilosec tablet everyday. I have had no issues taking these pills even day of surgery I took them.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
