Robyn Owens-Miille 132 Posted December 9, 2012 I have lost a significant amount of hair (pretty darn thin on top- think old lady thin hair). At 6 months it's just coming back in.
Traci J. 207 Posted December 9, 2012 Do a search for Hair loss, there are plenty out there. From what I've heard it starts around the 4 month postop mark and lasts a couple of months, but some people don't have it as bad as others.
phillygirl8133 74 Posted December 9, 2012 Yes I lost so much hair that I don't have to get it thinned out anymore like I use too I would come out in clumps for me I was scared
Rootman 1,101 Posted December 9, 2012 It is quite unusual NOT to lose hair. The massive diet change and post operative shock casue the body to change from pulling energy from food to pulling it from fat stores. The body resists doing this becasue it worked so hard to put those fat stores away for emergency use. Your matabolism slows some and your hair (and nails) stop growing as fast and some of your hair will then eventually fall out. This is due to the DIET change and post operative shock, NOT the surgery itself,. Eventaully most people recovery pretty fast and the hair starts to grow more fully again, but may not grow as fast or as full as it did before as there is not as much food being consumed and used for Hair growth.< /p> Don't forget that you are aging as well and most people lose some hair as they age. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Vidalia 122 Posted December 9, 2012 Just FYI...I was told in my pre-op education appointment that there is a direct correlation in adequate Protein intake the first few weeks after surgery and the amount of Hair loss in the 3rd and 4th months. I tried really hard to get that protein in the first few weeks. I am hoping for the best. 3 Catherine Shinn Habhab, GiGi3 and lainyd reacted to this

littlebits 154 Posted December 9, 2012 I started losing hair at exactly four months out. I purchased Nioxin & it helped with the shedding. At almost 6 months out (on the 19th). It has stopped...good luck. Check out my latest YouTube video if you want to see the bottle. YouTube--Littlebits0604
