Lorraine Freeman 47 Posted December 9, 2012 What will I do? Drinking gets easier, I can get around 200mls in, in one go now and then get more in about 2-3 mins later. Xxx 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this
mezanne1401 190 Posted December 9, 2012 This is actually the hardest thing for me to deal with. I screwed up the other day after cleaning the house and I gulped 4 big gulps before I remembered I had surgery. That was not a good reminder at all. That mess hurt!!!!! 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this

iegal 460 Posted December 9, 2012 While I am not aware how far you are from surgery, you may eventually be able to gulp again. I know post op I was unable to gulp at all, sipping was a chore really. From what I remember at about a year out, I could take a few gulps. Now, I can drink an entire small bottle of Water in one long drink. So, if you can't gulp you need to be very aware when you are working out. Sip often and frequently. This should not be an excuse not to exercise. Really it just makes you more aware of your body and its needs. Hang in there. Just like your capacity of how much you eat, what you can eat changes, so does the amount of Water you can consume at one time. No regrets, I love my sleeve. 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this
TamaraS 235 Posted December 9, 2012 I was able to drink normal and gulp if I wanted after 3 to 4 weeks! I dont think it takes very long to be able to get a good amount of Fluid down after the surgery! 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this
Rootman 1,101 Posted December 9, 2012 What ieagal said, it gets better. At one year or so you will be able to chug pretty well, maybe not as well as pre-op but pretty well.
cobalt 4 Posted December 9, 2012 I can down half a bottle of Water in one shot. I've always chugged. Hard habit to break. I'm almost 6 mos post op. It doesn't give me any discomfort at all. 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this
gettinMeBack 380 Posted December 10, 2012 Drink out of a straw that makes it easier for me and I have more control from gulping 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this

I've done that too and it gets your attention REALLY quickly. lol Aside from the snarky response, you'll figure out what's normal for you. I'm only 8 weeks out but I can drink versus having to sip even after that short amount of time. It won't be as bad as you think! 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this
Alexandra39 72 Posted December 10, 2012 Thanks. What about hot & cold drinks? I'm barely out of surgery
Lorraine Freeman 47 Posted December 10, 2012 Thanks. What about hot & cold drinks? I'm barely out of surgery I am personally fine with cold drinks I only take things like Soup and tea warm as that's the way I have always liked it. Xxx everyone is different when it comes to drinking. Xxxx
Supersweetums 1,164 Posted December 10, 2012 The way you are right after surgery and in the few weeks following is NOTHING like it will be, so don't worry. Like many have said, it gets better and pretty soon you will be able to drink pretty much like normal. I am 2 years post op and can drink a 500ml bottle of Water quickly, without issues or pain. At first, really cold drinks bothered me, but not anymore. Now it doesn't matter! The only thing I have had trouble with, believe it or not, is plain water. And I have heard it from others as well. It just does not sit right. So right now I drink Arizona sugar free Lemon Iced Tea because it is sweetened with splenda until I can find a stevia alternative. GeauxForIt 659 Posted December 11, 2012 Thanks. What about hot & cold drinks? I'm barely out of surgery Really cold drinks bother me and make my stomach hurt. I need cool, warm or room temperature. For now anyway! 1 Alexandra39 reacted to this
