Early Menstruation while on BC

Recommended Posts

I tried looking for topics on this issue but couldnt find any that matched my issue... Anywho... I started my period today but I am only on week 3 of my birth control pills! GRR!! I am almost 1 month out of surgery. Did this happen to any of you ladies? I figured my birth control pill would still be able to regulate my cycle... guess not. Yes, I have not missed any pills and I take it at 6:30AM on the dot everyday without fail. My body hates me I suppose! :'(

I am only 10 days post op, but I have the mirena and typically never have a period. I've not stopped bleeding since day 2. When I questioned about it, they said women store estrogen in our fat and the rapid weightloss is probably what's causing the period.

Same with me and that was the same answer I got also. I was also warned that there is a higher chance of getting pregnant. EeeAaaKkk

Thank you amwr6582 for posting this and everyone for their answers. I was just sleeved on 12/18 and got mine a week early and just different. I was about to post a question but decided to do a search first. This made me not worry so much! Does it get back to a more regular pattern after the first month?

My cycles have been wonky ever since surgery. My last cycle lasted two weeks. I am sure it gets better as time goes on :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
