breast options after weight loss

Recommended Posts

i'm wondering what my options will be for breast surgery after I lose my weight????? i'm a D now, and i anticipate that I will lose MOST of my cup size after i lose weight. i do NOT want implants...i would be VERY happy remaining small, as I anticipate being about 130 lbs eventually.

so what options are there? i'm hoping there have been lots of gals who have gone through similar and can give me some ideas. thanks!

I wondered the same thing. I KNOW my weight will not come off in my breasts (family history and weight loss experience tells me this) so am planning / hoping for a reduction and lift. Am curious how long the Dr will have me wait and how much weight I will need to lose before they approve the surgery

Guess I'll make an appointment and find out :)

If you don't want implants and are happy being small but want to be perky, you can do a breast lift. It's basically a line under your breast, a circular incision around the areola, and a vertical line connecting the under the breast incision and the areola.

this is my biggest fear. i am a F (and i refuse to buy bigger so im probably a double F). i worry what is going to happen and how long i have to wait to have them fixed. this is the main reason my husband is hesitant on the surgery. i mean the girls are as much his as they are mine. how long do we have to wait to have the surgery to "repair" them?

I'm wondering what's going to happen to the girls too. I'm half way to my goal and I am still the same cup size but it's more loose skin than firm breast. Sorry it that's TMI. Are there exercises I can do for this? I'm about to go buy new bras that cover the girls more because it's hard to keep them where they belong because they are so loose now. (Sorry to the guys out there), Maybe a boobie tuck is in my future?

So I was a 44H before surgery (at 255) and am a 34DD or DDD at 152. I was told I would be a full B after a lift. I'm going to get implants to a full D, but I have broad shoulders and am curvy so I believe it will be proportional. I would have not gotten implants if I could have been a C cup without, but a B just doesn't fit my body type well. My husband said he was totally opposed to implants - until I told him the alternative was a B cup. Suddenly, he had a change of heart.

Any gals who have had breast augmentation notice an absence of sensitivity??

My husband told me a story that he heard about one of his coworker's wives who had breast implants and she lost all feeling..supposedly her husband said, "she didn't even know he was on them".....Not sure if this is true or not, but I would be torn between looking nice or full sensation.

There's fat grafting but it is experimental& at best 80% successful. I hear the gummi implants feel better& have a more natural shape. I am definitely afraid of breast lift, but need one badly. I had a patient who lost both nipples due to necrosis. She had surgery in Costa Rica. I know I will def have to go abroad due to expense. Maybe Mexico or brazil.

Good thing about my job is they cover reconstructive surgery. I haven't had the sleeve done yet but I will in Feb and I'm unfortunate to have very large breast as well. So I am so looking forward to possibly having to have an augmentation. I have been wanting a reduction for ages.

Make sure you understand what they consider "reconstructive" surgery. Breast augmentation is almost always considered elective(except reduction) and therefore is not labeled as reconstructive.

Do a breast lift. Mine are saggy from breastfeeding. I won't lose Breast tissue because I had the same size breasts when I was skinny...they're just saggy now :(

I didn't lose cup size at all...still a DD, but my breast are loose, and slide out of my bra easily. Not firm at all. I do NOT want any type of surgery to correct this, but would like to firm them up naturally.

I have the same experience, the cup size is the same but I had to buy full coverage cups because the loosie goosie skin just "oozed" out of smaller cups. Sorry to be graphic. I'm going to try toning them but if not, I'll just keep on buying full coverage cups in smaller size bras.

I went from a 40DD to a 34 DD per my visit to VS today and my first bra fitting in about 6 years. I had a reduction and lift in 2005. I don't know if I want them reduced again but I would love to have them lifted again if/when I have a TT.

I had the anchor surgery that serendipityhappens described, and while they looked amazing, I must say a reduction is extremely painful.

Hi NurseMom,

I am an RN in Australia (nice Koala BTW)and have had a breast reduction and lift. I think that even with small breasts the lift will do a great job - they will retain what breast and fat tissue you have and cut then bring up the excess skin to tighten them into a perky state! I was a G cup and am now a C but the best part is they are not saggy even 4 years out of surgery.

I had NO pain for a day or do then discomfort requiring paracetamol only for pain as it was hard to sleep on my back. The results from day 1 have been excellent. I have different sensation now - I have a delayed sensation - so I can see someone touch a nipple but then only get the sensation about 3 seconds after.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
