stefanie 0 Posted December 8, 2012 Whats the dealwith this?? Does this prevent hypoglycemia? Is it safe?
kczar 166 Posted December 8, 2012 If you buy a reputable brand it's completely safe. Just check to make sure it doesn't have too many carbs. After that, it's just a matter of what tastes good to you.
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted December 8, 2012 If you're worried about artificial sweeteners and the quality of milk that it came from, Jay Robb's Protein powders are from hormone free milk and are sweetened with stevia. Very high quality and it mixes well and tastes fine. As far as hypoglycemia, I don't know, I don't have any blood sugar issues.
stefanie 0 Posted December 8, 2012 Thank you both! :-) do they keep you full before surgery?
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted December 8, 2012 The first few days you're hungry still, I won't lie, but after a few days you don't feel a thing. I'm on day 6 of a 12 week VLCD and I have to remind myself when it's time for my shakes.< /p>
kczar 166 Posted December 8, 2012 My surgeon had me drinking five a day plus broth. It was tough the first couple of days but it actually kind of freed me from obsessing about what I was going to eat. I think it's good for you mentally. But I'm not going to lie, I did get sick of them about two weeks post op. Fortunately I could start adding soft food so it definitely helped
