fill & feeling no difference

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I had my first fill last Wed. (1cc) and and feeling no difference. Felt really good the day after, but it must of been swelling because the feeling went away.:)

I'm starting to get frustrated!

I really want to feel this band working, I feel like I'm doing all the work and it's not helping me.

Anyone else have this happen? I need some encouragement.

Thanks.

Good points Jack,

I guess in some way as soon as I start eating I want to feel full or sick so I stop. I think I'm eating too much and then get paranoid I'm stretching myself out.

I have a 4cc band. I'm not as hungry as I was post band. I'm not patient either. i guess I've just failed so many times at weight loss before that I really need to feel this band in me and know it's working.

Hi Swanny...yes, it is very very very normal to be going through what you are going through (including the feelings you are having). But if you look through all the threads (not just our Canuck ones) you will very quickly realize that it is VERY seldom when the first fill (even the first couple/few) are THE right fill. You have to slowly build up to it. Yes, some will hit the "sweet spot" right away (lucky SOBs!!!) but the VAST majority have to lead up to it.

So, you ARE on track....and just enjoy what you can right now....get used to it, see if you are averaging (I stress averaging) 1-2 lbs a week and if not....go for another fill. But give it a chance.

Really....no worries.....you are right where you are supposed to be!

Yoda,

You are doing great....

I'm sure you are feeling your best too. I'm going for my consultation in Toronto tomorrow. Hubby and I are looking at getting the band done together. Do you have any advice, words of wisdom you may offer us? Which doctor did your band? I have about 80 pounds I would like to lose and hubby has about 140 pounds to drop.

Keep up the great job.

Doriana

Hang in there, you will get the restriction you want eventually. Have Patience (thats my favourite thing to say, cause I have none). Really though, it will happen. Hang tight!!

Be patient, my first fill took a week to kick in. The band does not do all of thework, we still have to do some of thework. I found that certain foods gave memorerestriction then othersdid, keep a check o nwhat you are eating. Follow the rules, hardproteins first, veggies, fruitsthen carbs. DO not drink withyour meals. No sofot foods or liquid calories, results will happen. Track your daily intake, write down everything. The band works if you work withyour band ...hang in there :girl_hug:

Hi Swanny, I know how you feel. How long before u can get your next fill? My doc makes us wait 3 weeks at least. I had 1cc two weeks ago and...nuthin. So i made an appt for nov 16 (the soonest i could get in) :girl_hug:. In the meantime why don't u and I try to follow the rules to the letter, eat right and exercise and even if we dont lose, hopefully we wont gain until we can get filled! Keep your chin up!

Hi Neenagh,

I called to make another appointment. They have to be two weeks apart so |I go back on Nov. 1st.

I hope this fill will go better than the last one did. They had to fish around in me a bit, and I came very close to passing out.:faint:

How long have you been banded?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
