I am 11 weeks out. Down 44 pounds. I am a little bummed its not more at this point. There is so much pressure when everyone is watching you. The last thing you want to do is fail. I hate the dreaded question "so how far down are you now?" Does anyone else feel this way?

It's what I am truly dreading when I go back to work. Many people at my job know that I was sleeved. And I feel as though big brother will be watching.

I know we did the surgery for ourselves, but that does cause stress. I really wish it would come off quicker. I really need to stop comparing myself to others!!!

I didn't tell anyone. I am so happy that I don't have to deal with questions.

I wish I hadn't told my Mama. She's supportive but every day it's the same "Are you staying on program? Are you doing what you need to do?" We've always been close, but I find myself avoiding her and that bothers me.

As for losing it faster- I agree! It's hard to be patient, especially with myself.

I find that my dad is always, "Have you eaten enough? Have you taken your Vitamins? "

I wish my husband didn't know but since we live together that would be kind of hard. Lol!!! I have to hear " You know you shouldn't be eating that". Wow and he's 60 lbs heavier than me. His reply is " I'm not under dr.'s orders". If he keeps eating like he does he will be under some dr.'s orders. To funny!!!

lol, that's funny Jenipher.

Soul, my mom does the same to me. Always wants to talk about calories, exercise, Vitamins...etc.

I don't know. I guess I am just in a mood. Stalls can really bring you down.

I'm only 10 days out, but a lot of people have been asking me how much I've lost. I'm glad they care but it does make me a little crazy. Between the liver shrink diet & surgery I'm down 28 pounds. I'm proud of that, but I think that some people think that we come out of the hospital skinny. Don't I wish! ;)

I agree Melross. and they assume if you don't constantly have a high weight loss that you must be doing something wrong. I may not be perfect at this, but I am a long way from where I used to be, and I will continue to work at it. Congrats on your weight loss so far!

I'm right there with you! Stalls seem to bring to light the difficult and seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Hang in there! :)

My stall is 11 days. I am not a pleasant person. Since my husband is the only one who know, he gets to hear me whine, moan, crab, complain. He just laughs at my grouchiness. I, however, am not laughing. Walking....yep. The dogs are tired of walking. Drinking....well I slosh when I walk. scale moving....nope. Scientific wonder.

People don't seem to be as excited about the inches I've lost but tend to focus on the number of pounds that I've lost or lack there of *sigh*. I'm a slow loser and I guess everyone expects for me to have lost 40 lbs already but nope. I'm definitely shedding fat because my clothes are getting loose and my muscles are sore which also makes me retain Water. I do feel discouraged when people focus only on the weight that I've lost, so in order to stay positive I'm just going to keep the number to myself. My husband has been extremely supportive and still doesn't know how much I weigh or how much I lose from week to week. He left for school before Halloween and came home the day before Thanksgiving and kept commenting on how much I've lost. I had only lost 10 lbs when I saw him again but he was shocked at how much smaller I was and that makes me feel good because toning and losing inches is as important as weight loss, if not more important. Heck I'm even nervous to meet with my surgeon because I don't want him to be upset about how little I've lost, it's probably an irrational fear but I'm still worried about it :/

ETA: my husband went back to school shortly after Thanksgiving and will be home right before xmas and I've lost inches since he left again. It's good to know that all my exercise and lifting heavy weights are paying off. The pounds might not be melting off but I'm feeling good and confident :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
