It's an emotional time. Casting blame won't make anything better. You signed on for a life change, which also includes what goes on in your head. The only behaviors and thoughts you can control are your own. Your choice for vsg and changes since may have been stressful for your husband as well.

I have to say, my hubby has been so supportive and asks every meal if I'd prefer he eat elsewhere. For me, I figure if I'm ever going to have a normal relationship with food, I can't expect others to hide. It's not been easy but I'm hopeful. But in general, I agree husbands can be butt heads!

Wow

** EDIT **

I love how women believe men think the same way they do. When we don't, we're insensitive asses. Hmmm ...

Lol.

I'm only laughing because you called him an ass. Not the situation.

I would agree with the others if you were further along but one week out?! He should be more considerate! Your feelings are totally valid! Next time you both leave the house let him know your not comfortable watching him eat at a restaurant!

Men are clueless! Talk to him about it. Walk away and meet him in a store. But overall, men suck! LOL

Wow, I wouldn't have stayed to eat with him either. I would have gone shopping with my daughter and bought myself a lovely size smaller top, on his credit card!

Yeah, that was kindof insensitive. Sigh I think my husband would do the same.

My husband did something similar, we want to Target 2 weeks post op And he and my daughter were hungry and he wanted to go to the Chinese buffet, so he decided to drop me off home alone and eat with my daughter! He didn't tell me where they were going, he said they'll be back. Then when I called him I ask what's taking so long he said they were out to dinner. So I cried! I cried cause I got excluded! I didn't crave food not was I sad to sit there and watch people eat but the fact that now I was going to be excluded! After the he realized he effed up but too late!

I felt the same way when I came out of surgery not able to eat good food and everyone around me was eating but after a while now I'm 6 months out I don't give a **** about food I've lost 115 pounds that makes up for it. It will get easier as time goes on

I think it's probably a wrong idea to get it stuck in your head that everyone's life revolves around your WLS. He could say the same thing about the out of pocket money, if any, you paid. Having to do extra house hold chores that you can't do while you are recovering and taking care of you/kids if you are sick out. It does suck, don't get me wrong, but this is your journey.

I agree, it sucks when your family and friends, are eating the things we cant. Some may be sensitive to OUR issues, some will not. Let's be honest, food is the reason we're all in this boat. We have to remember this is Our journey to succeed, or fail falls entirely on our shoulders...I like Amazon 13 suggestion, leave them in the food court, and go shopping, on him of course!.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
