Chia seeds. So you hear about them here a lot especially if you have Constipation. So I have hemmed hawed on get them. They aren't attractive and really I wasn't sure I wanted black specks floating in my shake. But...after trying them...I have to say I am enjoying them..to me it's the texture they give to the shake..I like it! And the add benefit of helping with constipation is an added bonus plus Omega 3s never hurt. So for those of you who have chatted with me about the chia seeds, I humbly bow to your superior knowledge of the product and say.."thank you for putting up with the doubting Thomas while she made up her mind"! I am Piplula and I like Chia seeds.

They are also good in pudding/yogurt, especially if you like tapioca. I really like them crunchy in my Protein Shakes, but to get the full effect of Constipation relief I think it's best to let the shake sit in the fridge for 20-30 minutes and let them gel. The shake gets real thick, it's more filling, and the seeds work their magic better.

I did like them both crunchy and thick and soft! And I found that to be astounding because I am very finicky about textures....think Jello....yuck! But chia seeds and me I think could be great friends!

Why do they have to be in the frig? I've got really sensitive teeth (Sjorgrens Syndrome) and can't handle cold drinks very easily.

Thanks!

My shake wasn't in the frig. My was left out at room temp and I drank it at room temp. I enjoyed it! I think Butta likes his drinks cold. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
