Motivation?

Recommended Posts

Im 9 months post op and have been working out but not as much as i should be. How does everyone get the motivation to get out there and start getting your work out on. I work out of town during the week so im stuck at my hotel most of the time which doesnt have a gym. Just need some tips to get that extra motivation??

Honestly I'm just thankful that I CAN workout. I can do things physically that I never thought I could do. I think about the times that it physically hurt to walk to the office from my classroom. Now I can run for miles without stopping. I can do the stair climber at the gym without puking or severe knee pain. I appreciate having the choice to work out.

The fact that I have lost 100 pounds also plays a role. I'm deathly afraid of gaining it back. I also LOVE the way I look in clothes.

Just a few of my motivating factors. Get ur workout on! :)

How do you work out when you are home?

Do you fly or drive to your work area?

There are many exercises you can do in a hotel room.

I would do push-ups, crunches, knee bends, and calisthenics.

If you drive you could bring exercise bands, kettle bells, and/or dumbbells.

Running in place or jumping rope work well for aerobics or running in the neighborhood of the hotel if it is not too hostile. :)

Exercise is a habit you have to fight your way into but gains momentum once the results begin showing up. Consider yourself always in a state of training for the rest of your life. Permanent works better than temporary in mindset terms. Our sleeve permanently modified our eating. We need an exercise program to match for our activity.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
