Recommended Posts

I started eating them again at quarter after never. I refuse to put that crap in my body after all this work, free or not.

I eat hot dogs from time to time. I buy the all beef kind. I'm not going to pretend that I'm better than others cause I don't eat hot dogs! Jeesh. I waited until 3 months out. I usually skip the bun or part if it.

I love how they taste with lots of mustard, but they are so full of sulfites that I don't even eat the turkey ones that are 40 calories each anymore.

I use to eat hot dogs before my surgery, as a matter of fact I loved them. But know I can't stand the smell of them, so I don't eat them.

My first thought was, "why would you want to eat hot dogs?" before I saw the free part.

Like Crazy Geno, I'd skip 'em. Free isn't a good enough reason. Brats might be a little different story, but that would be a rare exception ;)

I doubt I could eat more than half of a standard hot dog (wiener with bun and condiments). And even that would be a real challenge.

Personally, I'd throw away the bun and Condiments, then slice up the wiener and mix it into a single-serving can of pork 'n Beans and make Beanie Weenie out of it. The sodium and fat would be higher than what's ideal, but the Fiber and Protein would be pretty good.

At work we get them for free just wondering

I ate veggies hotdogs at 6 weeks with no bun. Went down fine - good source of non-meat Protein.

At 7 weeks out, I did have some the other day. It was all beef and very salty to me. I was only able to eat half. It is very heavy. Not going there again any time soon.

i am 16 wks and had one yesterday for breakfast! it was an all beef one, from a local butcher. NO nitrates or nitrites, no preservatives. very fresh, no 'snap' casing either.

it was awesome with mustard. they are a VERY occasional treat. only the 2nd one i've had since surgery. it was really good, but i have changed so much about how i eat that i would really only eat them a few times a year now...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
