Sorry to hear that you are having to go through this alone. It's sad that your family has chosen not to be there for you but I commend you for staying strong and going through the surgery even without someone there with you. Your new life starts today!!!! Congrats!!!! Welcome to your new life ;)

trying not to cry!! But I'm just getting called back now

bbbslady

i've heard that you "can" allow yourself a "cry period" of 5 minutes daily - thats it!!!!

a few tears can be therapeudic  but wipe your pretty eyes with some kleenex

back to immediate issue of taking care of yourself, losing weight which more importantly will alleviate so many of your health problems

but....i can see the strength in your eyes B)

admitting you have a problem of weight is 1/2 the battle - how smart are you!!!!

your road is starting a little bumpy with the absense of support from family

you know how important WLS is to help your journey to health and happiness- thats why you made the big hard decision to have WLS - you are so smart!!!!

your hard work will be slowly but surely rewarded, and you will enter the wonderful world of Sleeveland - where health and happiness are waiting for you

ask all your questions here, hopefully you have a NUT too - and you can also confide in your surgeon

maybe you have a friend of two that you can share your situation with, and reach out for help - no time for pride to prevent you from asking for help

try and get plenty of rest, relax - drink as much as you can - slowly - immediately after surgery, and following days - liquids/water are the most important thing to concentrate on

Protein will come with your Protein shakes at first, but don't worry or rush it if they can't stay down

you just had major surgery - its be nice to your tummy week, or two ;)

btw - can you feel me squeezing your hand with healing thoughts :)

HUGGS :)

take care of yourself

speedy recovery

good wishes being sent your way

I know exactly how you feel , I had my surgery back in Sept, 3 hrs away from home & no one went with me, I was all alone too. I was pretty down ,myself , at first , but after the surgery was over , I didn't care. I was too worn out to even realize that no one was there. In a way it was nice not having to deal with anyone fussing over me ,besides the nurses. I then realized I needed that time alone to heal & concentrate on me. I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery & like someone else said, your not alone , God is with you :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
