I am 4 months out and have been losing hair for about a month now. This article explained it well and really helped me accept what was happening--and assured me that it will stop.

Do a search on here and you'll find some pretty interesting hair regimes. Some swear by them' date=' others say it's inevitable.

I was sleeved in August. My whole life i've been blessed w long thick blonde hair. I'm 51 and not a grey hair on my head. Last month my hair started falling out like crazy. The final straw was when it kept getting in my food. Last friday i went and got it all chopped off. Super short. I love it. But what's weird is that it stopped falling out!! I have no idea why. But it looks healthy, albeit much thinner. So maybe cutting your hair and 'starting over' may be an option too? Good luck![/quote']

Me too. As soon as I cut it off ot really slowed down the loss.

I take a chewable Biotin and there is also a liquid as well. The liquid is really expensive but the chewable is very affordable.

I live in Lima, Peru and just emailed my nutritionist about hair loss this morning. She suggested that I go to a plastic surgeon in the area who takes blood and separates the plasma from the blood and then injects the plasma in the head. She swears by the procedure. It is 200 soles for a session which is about $80 and you are supposed to go once a month. I am not sure what I will do. She said that her hair is full and growing so much faster than before. If I do it, I will let you guys know! Anyone else had this done or heard of it before?

I am having what I consider to be severe Hair loss. I am 6 months post-op so I am hoping it ends soon. I always have to change my shirt before I cook so my shedding doesn't end up in my food (yuck). When I put my hair up in a ponytail, I have to triple the elastic band since it is getting so thin.

I wonder too if there is a delayed reaction dealing with the bodies reaction to anesthesia. I have noticed that toenails have a bump on the big toenail that looks like it has been growing out since my surgery and the same thing happened when I had surgery back in 2004. Back then I recall my hair dresser telling me that they could look at my hair and guess how long ago we had been under anesthesia.

I'm with Rootman. I don't think you can avoid it. Your body is in a huge state of shock right now. It will grow back over time.

Mine is desperately thin right now. I do have a couple of spots on top that are nearly bald. I cut my hair, keep it healthy by not torturing it with heat devices, eat my Protein and take my Vitamins. It's finally starting to grow back in at 6 months.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
