It was slow going for me with the solids. My surgeon said no liquor for a year. Since I don't drink, I didn't care.

It seems like I have more Protein from shakes than from the solids. I just can't handle more than 1 1/2 oz. of meat per meal. I try, but it's a no go.

You can eat maybe one bite of chicken and a piece of broccoli ;)

I'm only 4 weeks out but here's yesterday for me:

1 Protein shake for Breakfast (30g of Protein - Costco's Premier Nutrition in chocolate, the yummiest I've found so far!) 160 cals

lunch was 1/4 cup taco meat, a small amount of low fat cheddar melted on it and about a tablespoon of fat free sour cream (to keep the meat moist). That was 122 cals and 16g protein.

Dinner: veggie Soup (I probably should have added some unflavored Protein powder here but I didn't think of it) 32 calories 1 protein.

2 slices of deli ham: 30 cals 7 protein

Laughing cow light: 1 wedge (25 cals 2 protein) I smeared this on the deli ham and rolled it up

Snack: Babybel light cheese 50 cals 6 protein

2 slices of deli chicken breast meat: 30 cals 5 protein

Total: 67 protein and 449 calories.

Also about 48 oz of crystal light + Soup + Protein Shake for hydration, and random trips to the faucet for plain Water.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
