2 Mos Out And Vomiting

Recommended Posts

Hello, I had gastric sleeve on Oct 11 and I have some complications. I was unable to swallow so I had to have two ballon dilation to open up my esophagus. That is better but this weekend I have had consistent nausea and vomiting. It does not matter what I eat it comes back up. I vomit at least four times a day. Since I have had the surgery I have not had one single meal. I have been on liquids for the past two months. My body is tired and I am very frustrated to point where I cry everyday. Has someone experience this and how did you get throught this.

Contact your surgeon sounds like you might need another dialation.

Two things:

Maybe consult a different bariatric surgeon. If two dilatations did not work then maybe something else is on the horizon. What does your surgeon say?

Or is could be physiological. I was unable to eat for 5 weeks because I was afraid of regaining weight. Anything I put down came right back up too. So, have you tried applesauce? One teaspoon, that is all. Let it sit for a hour before you put in one more. If this works then try a tablespoon later. If you are good with that next day try a teaspoon of cottage cheese. Move up to a tablespoon. If you can do this, next blend the (*&^ out of some Protein packed Soup. Once you are okay with keeping down, leave a few very small chunks.

Slow and easy. Good luck, I hope you find resolution soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
